Speaking of simple, remember you don’t need to join a gym or buy expensive equipment.  A cardiovascular workout should be 4 days a week for 20 minutes a day.  This can be as simple as a brisk walk around the neighborhood.  Weight training can be accomplished with minimal equipment and space.
